D70 Opens New Nutrition Services Website

As the school year approaches the end, District 70 opens a new website for the Nutritional Services Department.

The website includes a variety of helpful resources for all nutritional needs. They include services such as: Free and Reduced lunch applications, MySchoolBucks (a system to check student balances and purchases), regular and allergen-free menus, basic recipe and nutritional information, health regulations, and other services. More information will be provided moving forward. Details mentioned above can be found at https://www.d70nutrition.org/.

The new resource will be the ideal medium for sharing the numerous details about the program, including updates about the new coffee shops being implemented in Pueblo West and County High Schools. Current and future goals will also soon be included. Parents and students have already used the website to ask questions related to the various nutrition and wellness programs offered.

Brian Axworthy, the supervisor and chef of the Nutrition Services Department, seized the chance to create the site. “Having our own website and expanding our communication outreach has been a task I’ve wanted to accomplish for quite some time. An opportunity came across my desk to partner with a website building team that can also initiate and sustain a social media presence for our department. I immediately jumped at the opportunity and started working with them to organize our data for the website build, ” he said. The website has become a tool to manage all the information collected and to communicate more efficiently.

After the launch, the department plans to increase their reach throughout the D70 community via campaigns. Also, they have created Facebook and Instagram accounts with the handle d70_nutritionservices. They’ll receive feedback and respond to suggestions.
