Cyclones Take the Parade of Lights by Storm!
The Pueblo West Cyclones join Pueblo’s 32nd annual Parade of Lights on November 26 and won an award.
The Cyclones demonstrated holiday and school spirit while parading downtown Pueblo. Students showed up to support the school by either participating in or watching the event. Cheers arose from the crowd and students following the arrival of the Cyclones.
They competed with other schools for the “Best School Spirit” award. The win of the “Best School Spirit” award showed the strong school spirit students have. It emphasized the connection students have with each other. The cheer team, dance team, and the mascot, Stormy, made an appearance alongside the students.
Junior Trista Guardipee, a cheerleader at Pueblo West, shared her experience at the event “It was a very fun experience walking with my teammates and coaches.” Eden Knutson, a sophomore, also enjoyed her time at the parade. “My friends and I were super pumped too and I think it added to the excitement!”
The cold weather didn’t stop the fun. Knutson states. “It was honestly just really fun. We had to wait a while because our float was near the back, so it got cold, but we started moving and it warmed up pretty quickly.” Guardipee feels the same, “It wasn’t as cold as I thought it’d be once you start moving.”
